Death死神

Death is the most misunderstood card in the tarot — it rarely means physical death. Instead, it represents the end of a chapter, a profound transformation, and the clearing away of what no longer serves you. Like autumn stripping the trees bare, this card promises that something new and vital will grow in the space that remains. Resistance only prolongs the pain; acceptance brings liberation.

Upright: The end of a relationship phase — or the relationship itself — making room for something healthier. Deep transformation within a partnership. / Reversed: Refusing to let go of a dead-end relationship, or fear of being alone preventing necessary change.

Reversed, Death indicates resistance to inevitable change, fear of endings, or stagnation. You may be clinging to a relationship, job, or identity that has already expired. The transformation is coming whether you welcome it or not — better to release gracefully than be dragged.

Death is the ultimate teacher of impermanence. Nothing lasts forever — and that is what makes everything precious. This card invites you to practice non-attachment and trust the cycle of death and rebirth. "What the caterpillar calls the end, the butterfly calls the beginning." Let go. The next chapter cannot begin until this one closes.
